Home coffee roasters are the next big thing for coffee lovers!

Well it's been a long time coming, but I've finally managed to get this page on home coffee roasters up at Coffee Makers Cafe. It's been an interesting little bit of research to find out the differences between a drum roaster and a hot air roaster. I still use my little popcorn popper, but I've got my eye on an IRoast2 - they look amazing.
So check out the new page, let me know what you think. I think it takes a little long to load because of the Amazon links. Not sure if it's like that for everyone else?

What's the difference between Fluid Bed and Drum Home Coffee Roasters?

As you know, I personally still use a popcorn popper for my home coffee roasting. Basically because it's cheap and it works. Trouble is I'm become less and less satisfied with the whole thing. Sometimes my beans come out very patchy looking - very uneven... and it's sooooo affected by the weather. Very unpredictable.

And so I'm toying with the idea of getting one of those speccy purpose built home coffee roasters. As far as price goes, I think I'd have to go for a fluid bed home coffee roaster - which works on the same principal as a popcorn popper really - but has the added advantage that I'd be able to keep it in the kitchen (I think) and not go out to the garage for every roast.

Otherwise, I could save up and get a drum roaster. That would just be awesome. Maybe I'll follow the path of thousands of home coffee roasters before me... start out with a fluid bed such as an IRoast2 and then progress to a drum roaster when I can stand the temptation any longer. Hmmmmm... we'll see.

For now, I'd better attend to my crying 1yo who just hit his head on my desk for the third time... I'd rather be writing.

Home Coffee Roasters to Make Your Life Interesting or Easy

My latest exercise in my little August coffee project is to create this home coffee roasters hub page. Take a look and leave a comment... let me know what roasting style you are? Are you a hands-on roaster... or do you prefer the push-button convenience of today's machines.

If you're super busy and don't have much time, a purpose built home coffee roaster machine would be a welcome addition to your kitchen. Just imagine, fresh-roasted beans at the push of a button! We all deserve a little luxury, right?

On the other hand, if you're looking for a new hobby, you may prefer to spend time perfecting the art of home coffee roasting in a popcorn popper... or even modifying your BBQ! There's something immensely satisfying about these rustic approaches to coffee roasting. Take your time and enjoy.

Before You Look At Home Coffee Roasters...

Today I created a lens about home coffee roasters - my latest obsession! The main point of the lens is to draw readers' attention to the fact that there are two types of personality when it comes to roasting coffee at home:

The first is stark raving mad! This includes me :-). Personally, I'm happy to hack a cheap popcorn popper and create a massive chaff cloud in my garage... billowing with smoke! I'm passionately obsessed with coffee!

The second is a little less crazy! Sane even. Fortunately, that's probably you. If that's the case, then one of those groovy purpose built home coffee roasters if definitely for you.

Remember to check out the home coffee roasters lens and of course it's sister bean the Home Coffee Roasters blog.

Home Coffee Roasters

Hi there fellow Home Coffee Roasters! Yes, I know, it's been ages since my last post.

I'm embarrassed that more than once I've pledged my intention to start posting here again... and also to add content to Coffee Makers Cafe. But time seems to slip away.

And yet today, I'm feeling inspired! You might be surprised to learn I've started a new blog at Home Coffee Roasters. That one is a small project I'm undertaking as part of something called the 30 Day Challenge... and basically it will be primed to generate some cash for my addiction to all things coffee!

So check it out. Enjoy. And go buy a home coffee roaster straight away... just kidding.

I've good intentions to be back soon, so stick around!
